***While an attractive candle, we're not 100% satisfied with how it looks so we're selling this piece at a discount. But as Bob Ross would say, "There are no mistakes, only happy accidents." (aka accidently knocking a candle mold).
Nocturnal Designs' dark aesthetic 100% beeswax candles are ethically sourced & artisan-crafted to produce a long burn time with a multipurpose solution to candle wax waste. Our wicks and molds are carefully selected to allow for a long burn time and an attractive wax shell to remain as burning aesthetically shaped candles inherently leaves wax behind. So instead of throwing away the remaining wax, reuse the wax shell as decor by displaying the crystal or stone included with your candle, our witchy goth potpourri, items from loved ones who've passed, or whatever else your heart desires for a unique piece of handmade decor.
~*~ Candles $23 and under receive 1 or 2 small crystals & candles $24 and over receive 1 large crystal. The second to last image shows examples of what you could receive.~*~

Suggestions on how to reuse your candle shell:
To hold your favorite crystals.
To hold our handmade potpourri for some lovely scented decor.
To hold the remains of any spell work.
*See the last pic for inspo on how to reuse burned candles!
We've conducted burn tests with & without dyes & mineral paint & found that our wick choice prevents issues with burning as we invest in quality flat & square-braided wicks.
To save the trees I do not include a candle care card, instead I put candle care instructions on each listing I create.
I BURN TEST EACH CANDLE to figure out the best way to get an attractive shell to reuse and to maximize burning time.
~~~*For the best experience burn the pillar so it makes a direct cylinder down the center of the pillar. As the candle burns downward the heat will rise burning away wax from higher up. If you burn too long early on you could shorten the burning time of this candle and end up with a less than attractive shell to reuse.*~~~
Please use general candle safety. Much of this is common sense, but I'm trying to avoid any lawsuits so I'm stating it here to cover my bum.
1. Never leave an open flame unattended.
2. Place candle on a plate and flat surface so any dripping is contained.
3. Avoid drafts & burn for 45mins-1.5 hrs. checking wax pool until desired diameter.
4. Wait at least 3 hrs before relighting, or overnight if possible.
5. NEVER touch wax until it's fully cooled down. Beeswax burns HOT, VERY HOT. You could burn yourself for sure on wax that has been sitting for several minutes.
6. Keep the candle away from anything that could light on fire. Including curious animals that may accidentally light their fur on fire. My cat did that once. Laid her tail down next to a burning candle...totally unaware of her demise. I saw it happen in slow motion. I've never sprinted so fast with a towel in my life! She's fine by the way, tail fur singed, but fine. It's been many years & she has never jumped up on a table again & the mere sight of fire makes her run in fear. If your animal companion isn't so smart, KEEP THEM AWAY FROM SAID ANIMAL COMPANIONS. Need I say more? I think not.
7. Do not move your candle around as this will slosh wax around and disrupt the quality of the burning by feeding the wick too much fuel too quickly. Once lit, do not move.
8. Trim the wick regularly. ****I use square braided and flat braided wicks that do not soot, crackle, or do any 'funny business' and burn down beautifully. To trim the wick simply take nail clippers or your fingernails and pinch off a tiny amount so no more than 1/4th remains but no less than 1/8th. No fancy tools are necessary.
What happens if I do not take proper care of my candle & the wick?
Beeswax burns super hot, so take proper care to not over-burn i.e. burning left unattended for 2.5+ hrs. I know everyone is guilty of leaving a candle to burn for ages so I figured I'd just warn you what will happen.
1. you will significantly shorten the lifespan of your gorgeous candle.
2. excess carbon could accumulate making the wick brittle. It will not impact burn performance, but the wick may crack off entirely. It's a PITA to fix but can be done by digging it out by melting the wax around the wick 'butt' with a lighter wand. Relight as usual burning for recommended time. Thinner wicks are more prone to this, but my larger wicks are more forgiving to neglect. If you have wick length to spare gently clip off the tip of the wick & relight the candle. If you do not have 1/4th or more wick length DO NOT clip, just relight. It may take a few seconds more than usual so use one of those wand lighters holding the candle up to the flame. Burn for the recommended time.
